  • "In the middle of the Borders while exploring Morioka,
I received a message saying that she's parading at a roadshow.
Suddenly I felt I had to cease what I was here for, to escape my purpose to see her
But it would be irresponsible to just abandon my fellow explorers wouldn't it?
A little later as we left the Borders, I felt that I needed to go and see.
With the others heading away first, I felt my adrenaline rush.
I ran swiftly towards my destination, rather surprised at what I was doing.
It's been a long time since I've ran in anticipation.
It's been a long time since I've actually decided to abandon my temporary concerns,
And when I got there to see the reason behind that drive,
I felt pleased to know that I received a smile of appreciation.
There I returned to continue my journey through Japan,
Unknowingly satisfied, puzzled and yet please at the same time."

    I changed.

Someone who used to detest studying actually enjoy it now.

I have learnt to appreciate the new knowledge i gain everyday.

Perhaps it's because I realised how powerful i can be when I have knowledge.

I hope I'm learning new things because I simply want to know though,

and not because I'm trying to fulfil a family dream of being the first graduate.
Everyday at the lecture theatre, you'd probably see my desktop looking like this...

A word document of my own compiled
notes, my powerpoint presentation, my MSN and sometimes my mp3 player.
    hahaha.. but its all good

Module code : GEK 1002, Introduction to Japanese Studies

    My knowledge about Japanese
culture grew immensely! And it is so interesting to see how the
Japanese used to behave and live in the past as opposed to today. From
the Tokugawa Era, to the Meiji Restoration and reform of Japan...
eveyrthing it's simply amazing! Realised that the Japanese people are
very unique. Eager to be true to their spirit of honour and bushido,
yet determined to progress forward towards making Japan number one.
Incredible.... hehe. Maybe next year I'll go to Kyoshuu University for
the Student Exchange Programme too! Anyone interested as well? hehe

Module code : IT 1001, Introduction to Computing

I didn't know what a bit was until I took this module. Didn't
know that a modem actually means MOdulator and DEModulator, and that a
pentium chip were actually many tiny transitors. Didn't know that there
were a competition of Operating systems of IBM's O/S2, Mac OS and
MS-Dos. The good thing is.. i finally know that defragmentation doesn't
give you more memory... but actually increases the overall performance
of the head reading speed on your hard drive.

Module code: PR 1301 , Contemporary Medicine and Health

Did you know certain essential oils actually have adverse effects on pregnant women? Or that Ginseng acts on the CNS (central nervous system), cardiovascular and
endocrine system (system of secretion) promotes immune function and metabolism
and has bio-modulation (to control and modulate body functions) and anti-stress
    activities? Or tha
t ginkgo biloba gives symptomatic treatment of cerebral dysfunction (symptoms:
    difficulty in memory, dizziness,
tinnitus, headaches, emotional instability and anxiety? I think
whatever I've learnt can finally prove to my mum that Chinese Medicine
isn't really THAT dependable. hahaha... but please don't read this and
go tell you mum that Reuben Wong says Chinese medicine is bad. haha

Core Modules code : PC 1141, PC 1142, Physics I and II

It's interesting to see that when a candle moves in a direction
the flame actually points in the same direction of the motion! as
opposed to the common thinking that the air will push against the flame
and make it point in the opposite direction. Have you ever considered
why airplanes never fly in straight lines to their destination? My dad
used to tell me its because the winds are strong so they must move at
an angle against the force of the wind to move in curves. Ah... now I
REALLY know why.. hahaha consider an non-inertial frame of the rotating
world and the plane moving independantly from the earth's fram of
reference! then you'll get the idea And
when the assignments and lab work comes.. gosh, I burn almost.... 12
hours a week of class and labs, and many many hours of doing an
assignment or report. But... it's fun. Because I love physics... though
its tough, and challenging.. i like it!

Special Module Code: RW 4216, The Art and concepts of Crapping

Ever wondered how certain textual descriptions can sound so
profound and professional when you actually begin to realise that it is
just crap? Then this is the module you need - Critically devised by Dr.
Reuben Wong, Phd. Final Fantasy (Square-Enix University), MGA (Masters
of Gunbound), BSc T.C.O (Tactical counter-strike operations) and BSc
(Sleep Research). His research in this field had gained global
    recognition
and had propelled the socialogy and psychological arena in Singapore to
greater heights. Some of his books are "Learning the linguistic art of
english through gaming," and "Why I got an A for literature with just 3
pages of answers." An example of his fine work comes from an abtract
adapted from a project he managed. Consider the Dr. Reuben's discussion on an abtract,

    "This
work conveys the author’s ideology as to what is important in preserving the
Japanese and the way they govern themselves. It also displays the author’s
attempt to unify Western and Japanese culture and practices into a common
frame, striking balance in both aspects. However, we question the motive of why
the book was written, that is if it was a sincere appreciation of Japanese
culture or an attempt to convince the general reader that his optimism for
western influence is holistically for the benefit of
    Japan’s progress."

    another follows,
"Our group shall examine the modus operandi of how this system works, and what this could do to
the technological arena in companies all over the world, regarding sales and
even in the service sectors. Here we shall establish the advantages of this
system as compared to mainstream techniques used and the potential political
    consequences that may arise."

    To
    apply for this module
there are certain criterias cited by the professor himself. Please
refer to clause 1012 in section VI of the Student's Special Programme
Annex, stating that "whoever so takes up this position to further
explore the art of crapping, must first run 21km and reflect on whether
the mind allows the body to feel tired, or whether the body causes the
mind to think that it is tired. Only then can one fully appreciate the
many perceptions of a given topic that will allow one to discuss
critically in a crappy yet convincingly professional way."

Thankfully my time in NUS isn't just all study!
I always have fun everyday! hahaha...

Right outside my room, I can see the
whole of King edward Hall! Get to see girls walking around, couples
arguing.. couples doing erm, other stuff... people doing strange things
and more often than not, seeing people still studying at 4am.

More Rag Photos! Got this from NUSSU's collection. haha...

The Prince of Solaria rises again! hahaha..

The guys who kidnapped my princess,
casted stop on me and finally gave me a pat on my back. Thanks for everything guys!

Secret Pal game at Union Camp. Wahaha remembered how noisy it was.

The union camp at full force in 2004! Eh.. but Science camp was better.
SCAMP 2004! The rest are just camps. hehe

More Union ball pictures from NUSSU! wow..

Wow... looking good Liz! Your partner's a lucky guy. haha

So which do you think's the prettiest? hehe..

It was quite well done.. the union ball. heh.. and the girls looked great.

My time in the National University of Singapore...
While many see the end of the orientation activities as the end of fun,
I believe that there are greater things coming my way.
More cheers, cries of victory, satisfied smiles and forging of new bonds.
May the world know that this... is only the beginning.
This is MY beginning, and I shall see through it.
    Thank you Lord for everything...

<Special Secret Ending: Another Side, Another Story VI>

    8th Hikari ~ Zil

    I only have one thing
to say. Thanks for seeing me. It made me smile for the longest time,
and made me glad for the nicest moments. It is here i realise that
though I can't see you that often, it is in these moments that my
memories live. And perhaps it shall be here, that these memories will grow

To the rest of the "Hikari" ~
Keri, Mis Adnama, Kureisuteina, Butterfly and Blue Rose
and to White Star and Lonestar... The moments we had, or the dreams
that had faded... I will never forget them. Sometimes certain things
are meant to be forgotten but some should be remembered. Keri... let's
    see what the future holds.
